• · THREAD: Today, we called on all sectors of the papaya industry to improve their safety practices to better protect consumers after papayas have been linked to several outbreaks of foodborne illness in recent years. https://go.usa.gov/xVjBM
• · All sectors including growers, harvesters, shippers and, even retailers, must take action because we know more can be done from farm to fork to stop outbreaks of foodborne illness from contaminated papayas.
• · The most recent outbreak was linked to a company in Mexico, and today the FDA also issued a warning letter to the importer. We will continue to use all our tools to best protect consumers from foodborne illness
