- · Today, FDA announced new draft guidance aimed at improving the safety of seeds for sprouting to prevent pathogens from growing in the favorable conditions sprouts are produced in. This comes after studying the safety history of sprouts over the past 20 yrs https://go.usa.gov/xyahS
- · We’re committed to taking swift action to respond to outbreaks related to sprouts and keep our food supply safe, but we also know that measures that prevent issues from happening in the first place are essential in further protecting consumers.
- · This new draft guidance is another important step, like the Sprout Safety Alliance or sprout-specific requirements of the Produce Safety Rule, the agency is taking to protect consumers from illnesses associated with sprouts.
