In August 2017, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted outreach to our regulatory and industry stakeholder groups on the FY2017 - 2019 Surveillance Sampling Assignments for Fresh Herbs (Cilantro, Basil, and Parsley) and Processed Avocado and Guacamole. We solicited feedback to ensure that sample collection is done as effectively and efficiently as possible under these two assignments. We would like to thank our external stakeholders for providing very constructive and informative feedback that will aid us in implementing effective assignments.
While FDA determined that no major changes to the assignments were needed, additional clarifications and instructions were included to increase assignment efficiency and decrease impact on trade, as noted in the External Feedback Summary. In addition, your feedback highlighted topics that we will provide greater clarity on in the External Feedback Summary and on our FDA.gov internet website.
Finally, we would like to notify you that the FY2017 - 2019 Surveillance Sampling Assignments for Fresh Herbs (Cilantro, Basil, and Parsley) and Processed Avocado and Guacamole have issued. Updated and detailed information on the assignment implementation can be found in the final assignment one-pagers. Please feel free to share this information with your state, industry, or government counterparts as you see fit.
In addition, the Agency will continue to share updates on our FDA.gov internet website throughout the assignment and provide a final summary report when the assignments are complete.
