This past hurricane season has clearly demonstrated how much we rely on our critical infrastructure, and how devastating it can be to communities that find themselves without the some of the basic goods and services we come to rely on.

 

November is Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month. This is when we stress the importance of the Nation’s critical infrastructure and ensure that we are collaborating with our partners at all levels to manage risks that may impact a single infrastructure asset or impact multiple interconnected resources.

 

Now is our time to promote the vital role that critical infrastructure plays in all of our lives and provide an opportunity for others to learn steps to ensure that the functions which sustain our society can withstand a vast range of threats and hazards.

 

This November, Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month gives us the opportunity to focus on some of the following messages:

·    Spotlighting the tools and resources that are available to help businesses become safer and more resilient through Hometown Security;

·      Increasing cybersecurity awareness by explaining the vulnerabilities that are posed by internet-connected systems; and

• Building strong partnerships to help fill critical gaps in infrastructure security.

 

November is also an opportunity to recognize the importance of public-private partnerships and their role in fostering information sharing, joint training, and joint exercises. These are the cornerstones of DHS’ critical infrastructure mission. It is through these partnerships we continue to foster advancements and support investment in making our infrastructure even more secure, resilient, and resistant to disruption.
