AFDO PRODUCE COMMITTEE

Blog: Association of Food & Drug Officials (AFDO)

AFDO has recently formed a Produce Committee!

The Food Safety Modernization Act has brought forth many new areas of concern for the food industry, both regulators and those regulated.  One of the largest new areas of regulatory efforts is in ready to eat produce.

AFDO members are faced with the daunting task of regulating ready to eat produce at the farm level. Many AFDO members have begun to stand up new enforcement entities within their existing regulatory programs.  Others are starting an enforcement entity where no regulatory program has existed before.

AFDO has been very involved with FDA and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) as related to the new produce regulatory efforts.   The AFDO Board has created the Produce Committee as a tool to assist our members and to further the goal of uniformity.

The Produce Committee is poised to be a very active and informative part of AFDO’s strong committee program.  Sign up as a member of the Produce Committee, help shape AFDO’s policies and uniformity efforts in the realm of produce safety!
